Job summary

Ontic Engineering & Manufacturing Inc. in Chatsworth, CA, is seeking an Applications Engineer II to bridge customers, sales, and engineering teams. You will review RFQs/COs, create MBOMs/MDLs, manage data in Windchill PLM and ERP systems, and support change control processes to ensure accurate and compliant aerospace parts documentation.

The role requires a bachelor’s in a STEM field and 5–9 years of relevant experience in manufacturing environments with engineering documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • 5-9 years of manufacturing or engineering documentation experience (drawings, specs, BOMs, configuration management).
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical reviews of RFQs and COs.
  • Initiate and participate in drawing changes (ECR/ECN).
  • Support engineers with technical product knowledge from RFQ/CO analyses.
  • Create MBOMs and Material Data Lists (MDLs).
  • Manage files and documentation in Windchill PLM and ERP systems.
  • Review engineering change data and support change control boards.

Our team is looking for an Applications Engineer II, to join them. The Applications Engineer II will act as a crucial technical liaison, connecting customers and sales teams with internal engineering and product development departments. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong communication skills to ensure that complex aerospace products are successfully implemented and supported.

This person will also perform technical review of Request for Quote (RFQ), Customer Order (CO) in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and support Conflict Minerals Compliance i.e. RoHs, REACH, PFAS, RM, etc.

To be considered for Applications Engineer II opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
  • Perform technical reviews of RFQs and/or CO’s
  • Initiate and participate in drawing change process (ECR, ECN), as required
  • Support engineers by providing technical support and knowledge of products from RFQ’s and/or CO’s analysis
  • Create Manufacturing Bill Of Materials (MBOM), and Material Data List (MDL)
  • Works under general supervision with a certain degree of creativity and latitude, as required
  • Support Change Control Board (CCB) activities
  • Evaluate incoming technical data (documentation, and test reports), verify accuracy, and sort codes according to file system
  • Understanding technical data baselines to determine effects in configuration management
  • Dispose of obsolete files in accordance with established retirement schedule or legal requirements
  • Store technical data in paper form (where applicable) or enter information into computerized storage system(s)
  • Scanning and importing into electronic vault
  • Identify drawings, license code, original manufacturer code, top assembly
  • Retrieve drawings and/or materials for qualified personnel upon request
  • Locate missing documents as requested
  • Maintain drawings and associated documents/files
  • Maintain Technical baseline in our PLM database (Windchill)
  • Data entry into ERP system
  • Review and coordinate preparation of project documentation with Engineering personnel, such as Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
  • Review and analyze released engineering change data
  • Support Conflict Minerals Compliance processes for reporting
As an Applications Engineer II, you will:
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related STEM field
  • A minimum of 5 - 9 years equivalent combination of technical education and experience in a manufacturing environment with engineering documentation, such as drawings, specifications, bills of material and configuration management
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering applications
