Job summary

TRUMPF North America is seeking an Applications Engineer to support the sales force with technical evaluation and design concepts, traveling to customer sites as needed. You will collaborate with R&D and product centers, and help identify reliable solutions to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in similar engineering positions.
• Read and understand vacuum system architecture and related electrical/control concepts.
• Basic understanding of systems/network communications (Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and relevant administrative and industry software.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel to U.S. and European sites up to 25%.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science.
• Experience with semiconductor wafer fab equipment or vacuum coating is desirable.
• Customer service or sales support experience; proven project management skills.
• Application programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an expert level of product knowledge and industry applications – e.g. Semiconductor, Display, Optical
• Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users; provide design and specification development support
• Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
• Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements to internal stakeholders; lead client consults and presentations
• Perform technical/product training for salespeople, estimators, and engineers at client accounts
• Assist in the design and development of new products and tools necessary to progress business objectives
• Coordinate with product centers to ensure a transparent path to development projects and technical objectives
• Maintain accurate records of client accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence
• Provide status reporting of ongoing projects and future projects
• Travel to project sites for start-up, integration, and training services
• Resolve customer issues in line with company mission and objectives
• Maintain professional business relationships within client accounts
• Support promotions and product sales at trade shows and events
• Cooperation with other TRUMPF Huettinger departments
