Job summary

Powell is seeking an Applications Engineer in Illinois to translate customer requirements into technically sound proposals. You will review specifications, interpret electrical drawings, and coordinate with Sales to ensure solutions meet Powell’s and customers’ goals.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of related experience, strong communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Occasional travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in a related field with BS in Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI, NEC, IBC and NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Independently review customer specifications for feasibility of Powell manufacture or supply.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings including single-lines, three-lines, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Translate customer designs into meaningful proposals and generate accurate proposals.
• Ensure proposed solutions are optimized for Powell and customer.
• Interact with Powell Sales and engineering to address application concerns.
