Job summary

Powell in North Canton, Ohio seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to design standard products based on customer specifications, create and transmit drawings, and coordinate with sales and shop teams.

The role requires 8+ years in engineering, a BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology, and proficiency in CAD. EIT/PE are preferred; strong knowledge of NEC/ANSI and ISO practices is essential. This position does not sponsor relocation.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel.
• Ability to order material electronically.
• Advanced drafting/CAD skills.
• Proficient with electrical design and circuitry.
• Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and drawings.
• Able to apply NEC, ANSI, and Other codes as applicable.
• Knowledge of ISO requirements for its department.
• Read and interpret and troubleshoot customer needs and problems.
• Assist with updating industry standards and codes.

• Basic to thorough understanding of power system application, relay application and coordination, and short circuit studies.
• Current knowledge of all industry codes and standards associated with his/her department and familiar with all other codes and standards.
• Basic understanding to very proficient at job reviews (i.e., acquired knowledge of specs that Powell should take exception to and specs that require special attention; able to accurately interpret customer specs, etc.).
• Assist in writing of industry codes and standards.
• Check wiring diagrams completed by others.
• Available to analyze and answer technical questions from lower level engineers.
• Able to understand, interpret and trouble shoot most customers needs and problems.
• Provide technical assistance to sales, engineering and inspection on daily problems.
• Assist with and solve problems of other production engineers on a daily basis.
• Check completed jobs of other engineers.
• Able to apply through product knowledge and technical skills to quickly solve complex application problems independently. May require consultation on most difficult.
• Innovative to improve existing products.
• Able to design one product in the most economical way while achieving quality.
• Member of IEEE.
• Assist in the publishing of articles and attend seminars.
• Attend in house and outside training sessions.
• Attend local professional associations.
• Learn policies and procedures, work instruction, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
