Job summary

Selux is seeking an Applications Engineer to work closely with Sales, Project Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing to support the Selux product line through fixture layouts, technical support, and project execution.

Compensation: $25.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Lighting experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create submittal drawings using AutoCAD for interior, exterior, and custom projects, including shipping charts.
• Create layout drawings using SolidWorks for interior and exterior projects, including shipping charts.
• Evaluate and review change requests for feasibility.
• Revise existing drawings as needed.
• Manage and prioritize drawing assignments.
• Collaborate with Applications Engineering team members on projects.
• Maintain standard product CAD files and documentation.
• Review drawings completed by team members.
• Participate in workload scheduling.
• Provide technical support to Sales and Project Management teams.
• Support remote Applications Engineering team members through video conferencing and other tools.
• Take ownership of assigned projects from request through completion, ensuring accuracy, quality, and deadlines.
• Maintain knowledge of Selux products, engineering standards, and procedures.

Overview

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create submittal drawings using AutoCAD for customer interior, exterior, and custom projects, including shipping charts.
• Create layout drawings using SolidWorks for customer interior and exterior projects, including shipping charts.
• Evaluate and review change requests for feasibility.
• Revise existing drawings as needed.
• Manage and prioritize drawing assignments.
• Collaborate with Applications Engineering team members on projects.
• Maintain standard product CAD files and documentation.
• Review and verify drawings completed by team members.
• Participate in workload scheduling.
• Provide technical support to Sales and Project Management teams.
• Support remote Applications Engineering team members through video conferencing and other virtual collaboration tools.
• Take ownership of assigned projects from initial request through completion, maintaining drawing accuracy, quality, and adherence to project deadlines.
• Maintain knowledge of Selux products, engineering standards, and departmental procedures to support accurate and efficient project execution.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent work experience
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Solid Works
• Lighting Experience a Plus

Job Knowledge and Skills:

• Very proficient with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Mechanical drafting background preferred; architectural drawing experience a plus.
• Ability to read architectural, reflected ceiling, and electrical plans.
• Knowledge of building construction related to lighting fixtures is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking ability to analyze design and project requirements, identify potential conflicts, and determine practical solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a proactive manner and communicate project status and timelines effectively.
• Spanish-English bilingual skills are a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None

Physical Demands:

• Occasional work on the manufacturing floor.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Includes safety glasses and additional protection as required by law and Selux’s PPE and Safety policy.

Work environment:

• Works in an engineering office environment.

Approximately 5% travel required.
