An established industry player seeks a Senior Application Developer to lead complex software projects within a dynamic research environment. The role emphasizes developing and maintaining scalable databases and applications, ensuring compliance with university standards. Research & Innovation (R&I) is a vice presidential area charged with system-wide administration of the USF Research Enterprise, which generates over $730 million in sponsored contracts and grants annually. It supports a USF Research Park with a business incubator. R&I provides guidance and oversight to seven divisions/units across multiple campuses and locations to ensure appropriate investment of university resources and compliance with federal regulations.
The position is responsible for developing, managing, and documenting USF Research & Innovation's portal, databases, applications, and intranet. It serves as the lead application engineer on complex software development projects, including automations and integrations, throughout the entire application lifecycle—analysis, coding, testing, and documentation. The role requires extensive professional experience in application programming, system integration, database design, and application maintenance. The Senior Application Developer acts as a subject matter expert on software, security, and application administration within a complex enterprise environment and is a key member of the Applications Development Team in USF Research Information Services. The team includes an experienced Associate Director/Senior Application Developer, a Web Developer, and an Application Developer I supporting the Research Integrity and Compliance team.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field involving software and analytical skills, plus four years of IT-related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree in any field with five years of IT experience; or a Master's degree with three years of IT experience; or a combination of eight years of IT experience and validated training. Preparation for relevant IT certifications is considered related training.
This position requires a Level I background screening. It is primarily remote, with 1-2 annual in-person meetings.
