Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, IT, Radiologic Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on PACS support in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of DICOM, HL7, and radiology imaging workflows.
  • Experience with vendors and clinical end-users.
  • Familiarity with major PACS platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline support and maintenance for PACS, RIS, and related imaging software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and image workflow issues with minimal patient impact.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and technologists to improve system usability.
  • Monitor PACS performance, image routing, storage, and system alerts.
  • Support integration of modalities (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray) and ensure DICOM communication.
  • Participate in PACS upgrades and testing.
  • Document changes and issue resolutions.
  • Ensure PACS systems meet HIPAA and regulatory standards.

Position Summary:

This position plays a key role in supporting the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and other imaging applications critical to patient diagnosis and treatment across our hospital. The Applications Analyst works directly with radiologists, technologists, clinicians, and IT staff to ensure the seamless operation of imaging systems, focusing on reliability, workflow optimization, and high-quality patient care. Position is 100% on-site.

  • Provide frontline support and maintenance for PACS, RIS, and related imaging software across radiology and other clinical departments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and image workflow issues, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and technologists to improve system usability and imaging workflows.
  • Monitor PACS performance, image routing, storage capacity, and system alerts; escalation issues as needed.
  • Assist with integration and support of modalities (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray) and ensure proper DICOM communication.
  • Participate in PACS upgrades, testing, and implementation of new imaging technologies or features.
  • Support data migrations, archiving solutions (e.g., VNA), and long-term storage compliance.
  • Document configuration changes, procedures, user guides, and issue resolutions.
  • Ensure PACS-related systems meet security, HIPAA, and hospital regulatory standards.

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Radiologic Technology, or related field – or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on PACS support experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
  • Strong understanding of DICOM standards, imaging modalities, HL7 messaging, and workflow processes in radiology.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting imaging systems and working with vendors and clinical end-users.
  • Familiarity with at least one major PACS platform
  • Background as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT certified) is a plus.
