Our confidential client is a well-established global organization with a sophisticated technology environment supporting both internal operations and external commercial customers. They are seeking a Manager, Application Support & Web Infrastructure to provide strategic direction and operational leadership for globally hosted web and application systems.

This position will oversee the day-to-day administration, maintenance, release management, performance, and long-term strategy for critical web-hosting and application-support environments. The role works closely with global Architecture, Application Development, Publishing, Infrastructure, and business teams to ensure technology solutions meet service-level expectations and business requirements.

The Manager will lead technical staff, manage multiple projects, participate in enterprise technology design and change management, and provide recommendations regarding technology standards, capacity planning, performance, and infrastructure strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage North American operations and administrative activities supporting externally facing applications.
• Lead global operations and administration for source-code management, project planning and time tracking, collaboration, and IT service-management platforms.
• Serve as a senior technical resource and focal point for global application and architecture teams, providing guidance and problem resolution for supported infrastructure.
• Oversee performance and capacity management activities and work with IT teams to resolve issues and plan for future infrastructure requirements.
• Recommend and implement web systems performance-tuning initiatives.
• Participate as a member of the IT Change Management Committee.
• Provide leadership and supervision to direct and dotted-line technical staff, including performance management, coaching, disciplinary actions, and compensation/merit recommendations.
• Ensure company and commercial-client information assets are appropriately protected.
• Conduct periodic planning sessions with application, architecture, business-unit, and IT teams to establish technology direction within organizational standards.
• Maintain current technical expertise and industry knowledge across areas including database technologies, publishing tools, Linux/Unix technologies, storage networks, enterprise backup, and process-improvement methodologies.
• Identify and communicate issues that could impact project schedules, operational activities, or business objectives.
• Manage multiple projects and related technology initiatives simultaneously.
• Provide leadership coverage and serve as Director of Technology when requested.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in web systems, infrastructure, application support, or information-services environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading or managing technical specialists and IT teams.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle WebLogic, Apache, and Tomcat is required.
• Experience with enterprise web/application infrastructure and production environments.
• Experience managing multiple projects and technology initiatives simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure performance, capacity planning, release management, and change management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, clients, and vendors.
• Strong problem-solving, consulting, planning, project-management, and implementation skills.
• Ability to travel to remote company locations or other business locations as required.
• Ability to participate in off-hours support when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-graduate education in a related technical discipline.
• Experience with application-development tools.
• Experience with Linux/Unix, Solaris, database technologies, storage, enterprise backup, or publishing platforms.
• Experience with source-code management and enterprise collaboration platforms.
• ITIL, infrastructure, project management, or other industry-recognized certifications.
