Job summary

CHAMP is hiring an Application Support Engineer in Cleveland (onsite – 4 days in office) to support CHAMPGov applications for State Motor Vehicle Departments. You will own stability, lead incident response, and build automation while enhancing observability and API integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, boot camp certification, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years’ experience
• Experience writing Java code and working with REST APIs
• Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, other developers, backend services, product teams, and QA engineers
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL
• Ability to follow complex design and development standards
• Flexible approach, able to operate effectively with uncertainty and change
• Driven, self-motivated, and enthusiastic with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships and problem solve

Responsibilities

• Own the stability and performance of mission-critical systems supporting 40+ million constituents
• Lead rapid incident response and drive root cause resolution
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks before they impact customers
• Build automation to reduce manual tasks and improve resilience
• Develop features and RESTful APIs that integrate with state DMV platforms
• Improve observability with monitoring, metrics and logs
• Troubleshoot integrations, data integrity issues, and application errors
• Identify opportunities to improve scalability and fault tolerance
