Application Support Engineer - Commodities

Commodities Technology is responsible for building, managing, and maintaining applications and fundamental data for Commodities Portfolio management groups which allows them to manage their Risk and PnL.

We are assembling a strong technology team to build and support our next generation in-house risk and analytics tools. This team will provide L2/L3 support and have full ownership of the production environment for several key business lines (risk, analytics, trading, portfolio visualization, and market data).

Principal Responsibilities

1. Monitor and automate application and infrastructure alerts and be able to react quickly.
2. Ensure system stability and uptime for all tools and applications under this team’s management. This includes application and infrastructure/cloud monitoring and checkouts, troubleshooting, and user queries support.
3. Identify and develop areas of improvement and be able to accurately assess business risk to help prioritize remediation.
4. Administer outstanding issues that are handed off to other regions and ensure necessary follow-ups.
5. Be flexible to work over weekends and shifts for releases and meetings.
6. Become the go-to person for your area of responsibility - Build subject matter expertise.

Qualifications/Skills Required

1. Basic knowledge of Commodities products is a must.
2. Experience with Portfolio Manager/traders interaction.
3. 5+ years of professional experience in Python, Unix/shell scripting, and SQL is a must.
4. Knowledge of DevOps tools, ideally Docker/Kubernetes, Kafka, Maven, and AWS is good to have, but not mandatory.
5. Self-starter with the ability to quickly pick up new concepts and technologies (Public Cloud, Serverless architecture, etc.).
6. Highly motivated to take ownership of tasks until completion.
