About This Position
The Phoenix Fire Department (PFD) Technical Services section is a customer service-driven section that provides technical solutions and support to the Phoenix Fire Department and 29 fire and medical agencies located throughout the valley, forming the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Consortium. The Technical Services team provides technology planning, implementation, and support for specific applications and systems required to meet the growing needs of the Phoenix Fire Department and its dispatch members.
This position is based at the Phoenix Fire Administration facility at 150 S. 12th St. and follows a Monday-Friday schedule. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
The primary job duties include and are not limited to:
- Establish business relationships with different sections of the PFD; identify and document their business functions and business needs; make recommendations.
- Provide technical support for the Fire Department's critical functions and applications, including, but not limited to, planning, specification, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and end-user assistance.
- Evaluate functional capabilities of computer systems which may include mobile devices such as tablets, City phones, and laptops.
- Resolve user access and connectivity issues for end users to access public safety applications.
- Assist users with technical considerations regarding selection and installation of applications, interfaces, network connectivity, and evaluate functional capabilities of the proposed systems.
- Create data queries, scripts, workflow, and reports using reporting languages and tools.
- Provide end user training to drive system adaptation, increase user engagement, boost daily productivity, and maximize overall system knowledge.
- Provide clarifications to the Programming team and serve as a conduit between other technology teams within the Technical Services section.
- Prepare clear written technical documentation, functional specifications, and communications to internal and external stakeholders.
- Possess working knowledge of querying SQL databases, data extraction, and report writing to create SSIS and SSRS reports to support various business users.
- Create and maintain Power BI data flows and dashboards.
- Possess working knowledge of PowerShell/Python for ETL scripts to support various business needs.

SALARY
Pay Range: $76,294.40 to $112,715.20 annually.
Hiring Range: $76,294.40 to $107,348.80 annually.

Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of PC, server, switching, routing, and multiplexing hardware and software.
- OR two years of experience in installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems or telephone station equipment, systems, and related distribution telecommunications systems.
- 15 hours of appropriate information technology course work including training or experience with one or more work station computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, or a related field.
- Two or more years of experience in business analysis and documenting.
- One or more years of experience with scripting and automation tools.
- One or more years of SQL experience; Python will be an advantage.
- Two or more years of experience developing Power BI dashboards and data flows.
