Job summary

Optical Society of Southern California is seeking an Application Development Engineer to develop new applications for complex products and services. The role requires deep product knowledge, understanding of applications, and familiarity with scientific principles behind our solutions.

The position reports to the National Engineering Manager & GM for Application Development. It is an exempt full-time role within the Engineering department, with potential travel and occasional overnight trips.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; 3–5 years of engineering experience; sales experience is a plus.
• Language: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Develop customer applications with technical and engineering support.
• Collaborate with customers and engineers to assess technical requirements.
• Assist customers in selecting products and specifications, supported by technical data.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations on IKO products and services.
• Support customers in solving product-related problems.
• Partner with sales teams to understand customer needs and provide support (if not handling the account directly).
• Manage order placement and delivery logistics (for owned accounts).
• Plan and adjust products to align with customer requirements.
• Conduct research and development of new products and services.
• Perform other duties as required.
