Job summary

ams OSRAM USA Inc. is seeking an experienced Application Engineer for Illumination North America to advance our optoelectronic solutions.

You will investigate system approaches, evaluate benefits and tradeoffs, and provide electrical, thermal, and optical support to customers and internal teams. You will develop design proposals, hardware mock-ups, and technical materials while identifying innovative applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, Optoelectronics, or Physics.
• 5+ years of experience in developing electronics systems or applications, preferably LED / Laser / Sensor-based systems.
• Strong understanding of basic semiconductor devices and their characteristics.
• Understanding of thermal management concepts and photometry of optoelectronics devices.

Responsibilities

• Create a deep technical system understanding by investigating system approaches and evaluating benefits/drawbacks of different solutions.
• Provide support in electrical, thermal, and optical aspects of complete systems to customers and internal teams.
• Provide application support and cultivate new relationships by developing design proposals and technical material.
• Identify and develop innovative applications from customer/market requirements and coordinate with Product management and R&D.
• Collaborate with marketing and Sales to develop and execute product and application promotion plans and deliver training.
• Promote LED technologies through industry committees, conferences, and events.
