Job Description:

The City of New York – Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) is seeking an Application Operations Manager with strong leadership skills and deep experience managing web applications deployed in cloud environments, specifically AWS. The selected candidate will support a portfolio of applications including NYC.ID, CAPTCHA, City Clerk systems, NYC.gov, and more. This is a remote position requiring exceptional coordination skills across development, infrastructure, and security teams.

Specialty Areas:

1. Application Operations Management – Overseeing the daily support, uptime, performance, and upgrades of enterprise web applications on AWS.
2. Team Leadership & Strategy – Directing engineering and ops teams, managing task allocation, outage response, and planning for operational scaling.
3. AWS Cloud Operations – Experience managing deployments, patching, troubleshooting, and optimizing cloud-native applications.
4. Stakeholder Communication & Risk Management – Issuing daily updates, managing incidents, escalating risks, and maintaining operational alignment.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the operations team to ensure performance, efficiency, and adherence to SLAs.
