Job summary

Henkel's Adhesive Technologies division in Madison Heights, MI, seeks an Application Engineering Technician to perform hands‑on lab testing and material evaluation onsite five days a week. You will generate test data and reports, program robotics, and train team members while maintaining safe operation of equipment.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering/chemistry/science and 1 year of lab experience, plus strong data interpretation and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, biology or science field.
  • 1 year of laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Ability to gather, understand, and interpret chemical, physical and mechanical data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work in a team and independently.
  • Knowledgeable in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Good scientific judgment, statistical analysis, root cause identification and robust solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hands-on laboratory testing and material application evaluation.
  • Perform lab work safely with PPE and 5S practices.
  • Execute lab testing and generate data, documentation and reports for projects.
  • Communicate observations regarding data and outcomes.
  • Employ basic problem solving to overcome bottlenecks and meet deadlines.
  • Program robots and work with curing and dispensing technologies.
  • Train other technicians on equipment operation and test procedures.
  • Maintain ownership and safe operation of equipment.
  • Report results and methods to internal/external customers.

What you´ll do
  • Conduct hands-on laboratory testing and material application evaluation
  • Conduct all laboratory work in a safe manner including the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adherence to site safety practices, use of laboratory equipment, 5S
  • Execute lab testing and generate test data, documentation and laboratory reports for projects assigned by Engineers and/or Supervisor
  • Communicate basic observations regarding data and/or experimental outcomes
  • Employ basic problem‑solving skillsets to overcome project bottlenecks and maintain project deliverable dates
  • Demonstrate expertise in programming robots and working with various curing and dispensing technologies
  • Train other technicians regarding equipment operation and/or test procedures
  • Maintain ownership and safe operation of assigned equipment
  • Report laboratory results and methods according to accepted company lab practices; results, reports and observations will be communicated to internal/external customers
  • This role requires working onsite in Madison Heights 5 days a week
What makes you a good fit
  • Preferred bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, biology or a science field.
  • 1 year of experience working in a chemical laboratory is preferred

The salary range for this role is $65,000.00 and $70,000.00. This range represents the good‑faith minimum and maximum wages the Company reasonably expects to offer for this role at the time of posting. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for incentive pay or other forms of compensation, as applicable. The Company also offers a comprehensive benefits package as described above. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as the candidate's skills, experience, education, training, and work location.
