Job summary

Actalent in Columbus, OH is seeking an Application Engineer to serve as a technical liaison between customers, sales teams, and engineering groups, translating requirements into effective solutions and supporting deployment and system integration.

You will collaborate across engineering, operations and business development, travel to customer sites, provide troubleshooting, guidance, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle, with a focus on clear communication and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in application engineering, systems engineering, technical support, field engineering, or a similar customer-facing engineering role.
• Experience translating customer requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience supporting complex electrical, mechanical, software, or integrated systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work directly with customers, project teams, and business stakeholders.
• Experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, transportation, automation, or technology-based products.
• Ability and willingness to travel as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to understand technical requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Support product integration activities and assist customers during implementation and deployment phases.
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot system and component performance issues and conduct root-cause investigations as needed.
• Assist in the development of technical proposals, project documentation, and customer-facing presentations.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and business development.
• Serve as a technical resource during customer meetings, project reviews, and onsite visits.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Maintain strong customer relationships through responsive and professional support.
• Travel to customer locations as needed to support projects, installations, and technical reviews.
