Job summary

EtaPRO LLC in Amherst, NY seeks an Application Engineer to develop, configure, and commission real-time performance and condition-monitoring solutions for power-generation customers. You’ll apply thermodynamics and heat-transfer knowledge to diagnose issues and deliver complete technical work products.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and at least 2 years in engineering, with SQL/DB familiarity a plus.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering required.
• Minimum 2 years in an engineering role.
• Experience with technical analysis, equipment performance, or plant systems preferred.
• Experience in the power industry preferred.
• Ability to interpret plant design documents, diagrams, heat balances, and data.
• Experience with SQL or data processing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review plant design information to define monitoring requirements.
• Configure models, displays, and reports for EtaPRO systems.
• Build thermodynamic models to assess performance.
• Interpret performance deviations and diagnose causes of off-design operation.
• Develop diagnostic flow charts for plant-performance issues.
• Coordinate deliverables with project teams and customers.
• Participate in customer meetings and communicate technical information.
• Deliver end-user training and FastStart meetings.
• Commission EtaPRO systems independently and resolve implementation issues.
• Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements to methods/tools.
