Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire

Salary: $85,000–$100,000 + 6% Performance Bonus + Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)

Position Summary:

The Applications Engineer will support the development of technical cost estimates, quotations, bids, and application solutions for new and existing manufactured products. This position works closely with customers, sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, materials, and other internal teams to translate technical and commercial requirements into accurate, supportable quotations. The role requires a combination of engineering knowledge, manufacturing awareness, cost estimating, customer-facing communication, and technical-commercial judgment. The Applications Engineer will also support opportunities within regulated and contract-driven industries, including aerospace, defense, medical device, government contracting, and ITAR-controlled environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and prepare cost estimates, quotations, bids, and supporting analyses for new and existing products.
• Review customer requirements and estimating inputs to identify missing information, unclear scope, assumptions, technical risks, cost drivers, schedule impacts, and areas requiring clarification.
• Clearly communicate estimate basis, assumptions, exclusions, risks, open items, and major cost drivers during quotation and opportunity reviews.
• Support sales volume, pricing, and standard margin forecasts while assisting with evaluation of pricing changes, market conditions, and potential share opportunities.
• Serve as a technical liaison between customers, sales, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, materials, quality, and other internal stakeholders.
• Ensure sales teams and customers have current engineering prints, product configurations, quotation assumptions, and pricing information for quoted products.
• Work directly with customers, distributors, representatives, agents, internal solution teams, and Regional Sales Managers to understand application and quotation requirements.
• Collect and evaluate technical and commercial information, including drawings, specifications, product configurations, volumes, schedules, operating conditions, qualification requirements, and customer expectations.
• Prepare planning estimates and detailed itemized estimates using engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, labor assumptions, tooling requirements, manufacturing processes, testing requirements, and other cost factors.
• Provide technical assistance related to procurement, manufacturing, installation, trial operation, and field application issues.
• Support quoting and applications activities within regulated or contract-driven markets, including aerospace, medical device, DoD, ITAR-controlled, and government contract environments.
• Ensure estimates account for applicable first article requirements, material traceability, customer-specific documentation, testing, qualification, and validation requirements.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure customer-sensitive, ITAR-controlled, export-controlled, and government contract information is handled according to established procedures.
• Assist with expediting material requisitions and production work orders when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. A related technical degree combined with equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, quoting, estimating, cost analysis, technical sales support, manufacturing support, commercial operations, program support, or another related technical-commercial role.
• Background developing or supporting cost estimates, quotations, bids, customer proposals, or application solutions for technical manufactured products or systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, technical procedures, statements of work, bills of material, business documents, professional journals, and applicable governmental or regulatory requirements.
• Ability to collect, organize, validate, and communicate technical and commercial information obtained from customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP, quoting, estimating, engineering documentation, reporting, or CRM systems.
