Job summary

Applied Motion Products is seeking an Application Engineer to serve as the primary technical contact for customers and prospects. You will collaborate with the Sales team for both pre- and post-sale support and contribute to firmware/software customization as needed.

The role involves traveling to select metropolitan areas, providing technical guidance on motors, drives, and related products, and supporting engineering with product improvements. A strong background in motion control is required.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of related motion control experience.
• Ability to install, troubleshoot and program motion control products.
• Basic knowledge of electronics, mechanical systems and industrial networking.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for AMP products via on-site visits, phone, and email.
• Offer product recommendations based on application needs and sizing calculations.
• Deliver training to in-house sales staff, distributors, and reps on AMP products.
• Provide input to Engineering for product improvements and new designs.

Applied Motion Products is currently seeking an Application Engineer to act as the primary customer and prospect contact for technical product information and support and work closely with the Sales team for both pre- and post-sale support. Additionally, this role provides technical input to Engineering for product improvements and new designs, and has the capability to create customized product on the firmware and software level.

• Provide technical support for Applied Motion Products’ products, with a focus on motors, drives, or related products via on-site visits, phone, and email
• Provide product recommendations to customers based on application requirements and motor/drive sizing calculations
• Provide training to in house sales personnel, distributors and manufacturers reps on AMP products
• Provide primary technical marketing and sales input to Engineering on product improvements to existing products and new product designs

Requirements

This position is available in specific metropolitan areas only and is not available nationwide: San Jose CA, Dallas TX, Chicago IL. If you are not located near one of these areas, your application will be closed.

Work Experience

• Minimum 1+ years of related experience in a motion control environment.

Skills/Attributes

• Ability to install, troubleshoot and program motion control products.
• Working knowledge of mechanics and machine operations over a wide variety of industries.
• Computer skills and knowledge of Office 365 products.
• General experience or knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, mechanics and general industry knowledge in the markets that we serve and where our products are applied.
• Working with automation and control products including step motors, step motor drives, servo motors, servo motor drives and industrial networking protocols and PLCs such as EtherCAT and Ethernet IP.

Education, Degrees, Certifications

• BSEE or BSME preferred. Associates degree in a technical field accepted
