Reporting Line

This position reports to: Sales Support Manager

Your Role and Responsibilities

The Application Engineer is the first point of contact for the local sales organization for Large Motors and Generators (LMG) products within the Motion Business (MOLM-US). In accordance with company policies and procedures, the Application Engineer processes customer inquiries, orders, and requests for proposals (RFP). The role involves preparing motor designs using PC software and technical knowledge, working cross-functionally with engineering, sales, production, marketing, customer service, and external clients.

The work model for this role is remote. #LI-Remote

This position contributes to the Motion Large Motors division based in Houston, TX. Main stakeholders include internal departments and external customers.

Main Responsibilities

• Offer technical advice and solutions to customers, sales channels, and specialists about ABB products, systems, and applications, including quotes and proposals that meet customer needs.
• Perform technical tasks to design motors according to customer specifications, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
• Act as a technical resource, providing support via phone or in person to address and resolve technical inquiries related to product lines or regions.
• Proactively participate in initiatives to improve effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM or Business field.
• At least 2 years' experience with AC Induction motors, generators, or industrial products.
• Ability to interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Effective communication skills with customers, vendors, management, and colleagues.
• Legal work authorization in the US is required.
• Preferred: Experience supporting technical industrial or drives sales teams.
