The State of Michigan, Department of Technology Management and Budget, is seeking an IT Specialist 14 to join the CEPI development team in Lansing. This role includes designing, developing, testing, and enhancing applications to support CEPI's goals.

Candidates should be proficient in .Net (C# and VB) and Azure architecture, communicate clearly, and work in a hybrid environment with two on-site days and three remote days per week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 21 semester credits in CS/IT/related fields.
  • Three years of professional IT Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst experience.
  • Associate's degree with 16 credits in CS/IT/related plus four years IT experience and four years as IT professional.
  • High school plus three years IT experience and four years of professional IT experience in IT.

Responsibilities

  • Involves design, development, testing, and ongoing enhancements for CEPI systems.
  • Works across all phases of the software development lifecycle for CEPI.
  • Knowledge of Azure architecture and .Net Development (C# and VB) is required.

Job description

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

This position functions as a developer specialist and development team lead, within a team of technology professionals. This position helps with design, development, testing, and on-going application enhancements that support the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI).

This position is responsible for participation on application development projects which focus on achieving the goals and mission of the agency. This position has responsibilities in all phases of the software development lifecycle related to the CEPI systems. Knowledge of Azure architecture, solution implementation, and .Net Development (C# and VB) as listed within the knowledge skills and abilities section of this position description.

SIGNING BONUS

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Position Location/Remote Office

The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out-of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

Education and Experience
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project managementor mathematics.
  • Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.
  • An associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, mathematics or equivalent; and at least two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician and four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.
  • OR at least an educational level typically acquired through the completion of high school and at least three years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician and four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.
