As an Application Analyst, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of HR and Payroll applications and integrations.
Key responsibilities include:
Analyze HR and Payroll business processes and system workflows
Collaborate with HR and Payroll staff to design and implement solutions
Support integrations, reporting, and troubleshooting
Write and maintain technical and functional documentation
Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Work independently while collaborating across departments

Master’s degree or equivalent training and relevant experience
Knowledge of HR and Payroll processes
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience working with stakeholders across teams
Ability to write and interpret SQL queries
Understanding of relational databases
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate and work independently
The following experience is helpful but not required:
ERP, HRIS, or Payroll system experience
Higher education HR or Payroll systems experience
API integrations or low-code platforms (e.g., Boomi)
Software development lifecycle knowledge
Programming: Java, Groovy, .NET, or PL/SQL
Reporting tools: SAS, SQR, or MicroStrategy
Web frameworks: Angular or React
Location: Blacksburg, Virginia
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Overtime Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $78,000 – $85,000
