Job Description:
This position is responsible for complex to expert level work supporting information technology application(s) through planning, designing, implementing, maintaining, and providing ongoing optimization and support.
(e.g., electronic health records, registration, scheduling, billing and collections, lab and pathology, radiology, picture archiving and communications (PACS), cardiovascular, pharmacy, home care, long term care, population health, consumer and patient facing technologies, enterprise resource planning, workforce scheduling, time and attendance, customer relationship management)
The Principal analyst is responsible for overseeing technical support, configuration, integration, and maintenance for various healthcare applications throughout their lifecycle (e.g., selection, implementation, support, archival, and decommissioning).
The Principal analyst will provide strategic guidance and ensure the alignment of application configuration and support with organizational goals and objectives. They will also manage projects related to these applications and their technologies, help plan and execute large projects, mentor other analysts, and develop best practices and standards for application configuration, deployment, support, archival, and decommissioning.
Principal analysts may supervise lower-level analysts.
Essential functions are performed independently under minimal supervision and direction, in addition to overseeing and mentoring other analysts.
Essential Functions
- Provides support to stakeholders through analyzing and diagnosing problems to determine resolution.
- Gathers, validates, and translates technological requirements into design and development specifications while providing product management.
- Configures, tests, installs, implements, monitors, and maintains common and complex systems (applications, workflows, processes, hardware, etc.).
- Documents and recommends workflow changes and technical/functional designs needed to support business requirements.
- Partners with external vendors to support related third-party applications, including integration, support, and troubleshooting.
- Solves complex issues, incidents, and problems according to service levels and department standards.
- Serves as project manager and completes project management functions for complex projects, collaborating with the DTS Project Manager team, ensuring initiatives are organized, planned, and managed, with effective handoff from demand intake through governance processes.
- Responsible for quality review of team projects, demand creation, resource management processes, and creating remediation plans for issues.
- Mentors and identifies training opportunities for teams and technical duties, demand management, and resource management processes.
- Collaborates with peers, stakeholders, and vendors to develop best practices and standards for technical duties, demand management, and resource processes.
- Follows documentation and change management standards.
- Participates in developing training and knowledge materials for peers, end-users, and team members.
- Configures and integrates hardware with software to meet client specifications.
- Develops and understands business reporting needs for end users.
- Participates in on-call and command center responsibilities.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive testing plans and scripts to verify system outputs and integrity.
- Attends and participates in team, project, and department meetings to increase awareness and information flow.
- Assists in creating, forecasting issues, maintaining, adjusting, and justifying project or team budgets.
- Participates in vendor or industry user groups, community discussions, and CAB sessions.
- Manages the portfolio of IT projects and initiatives for assigned business units, ensuring alignment with strategy, prioritization, and delivery of value.
- Participates in meetings with workgroups, subcommittees, and hospital leadership, advocating data-driven decision-making.
- Uses benefit KPIs to track and report project benefits, extrapolates lessons learned, and creates future governance recommendations.
- Provides detailed information on new projects to enable appropriate leadership decisions.
- Conducts service reviews with business executives, communicates survey results, and follows up on improvement processes.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel (pivot tables), Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Word.
- Deep business and application knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge of system analysis and operating systems used in hospitals.
- Skills in assessing needs and documenting optimal approaches.
- Competence in problem definition and data collection.
- Ability to interpret industry literature, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, healthcare, business, or related field (additional relevant experience may substitute upon approval).
- Healthy Planet Compass Rose certification.
- 3+ years build experience with Epic Care Management tools.
- 2+ years building Epic Compass Rose programs.
- Experience building collaborative care plans.
- Experience with Social Determinants of Health (SDoH).
- Experience with Reporting Workbench reports.
- Experience in Epic modules, Ambulatory or ClinDoc.
- Strong technical proficiency in Epic application build, configuration, and maintenance.
- Eight (8) years of work experience in a healthcare setting.
Physical Requirements
- Operate computers and other IT equipment, requiring finger and hand movements.
- See and read monitors and documents.
- Remain sitting or standing for long periods to perform work.

Work Hours:
40 hours per week
Compensation:
Hourly range: $53.58 - $84.36, dependent on experience.
