Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate effective working relationships between IT and client community to maintain ongoing awareness of information needs and uses.
  • Follow system policies and educate and support others in following system policies.
  • Assist AIS staff in meeting departmental and institutional goals, via timely feedback and ad hoc technical and "soft skills" training and mentorship.
  • Follow appropriate UGA and departmental policies and procedures to ensure auditability of compliance.
  • Participate in interviews with clients to determine their needs.
  • Develop and implement application programs based on direction from supervisor, analysts, and/or clients, using documented requirements and specifications.
  • Perform unit testing on developed programs, documenting the results and correcting any issues discovered.
  • Review assigned program specifications, ask questions about perceived gaps, and suggest solutions to problems.
  • Provide day-to-day support to end users under direction of direct supervisor and AIS senior leadership.
  • Perform regularly scheduled maintenance tasks on assigned systems and programs to provide ongoing support with minimal interrupted functionality.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation on assigned systems and programs.
  • Participate in the AIS response when there are issues with assigned systems, including outside of business hours if requested.
  • Follow the documented AIS change management processes and keep related documentation up to date in the system, for auditability and future reference.
  • Manage own time effectively when prioritizing and planning daily work, in coordination with their supervisor and AIS management.
  • Provide timely updates to assigned tasks in tracking systems as work is performed.
  • In coordination with supervisor, select and participate in training and professional development activities to expand skill set and prepare for future career opportunities.

Job description

Position Summary

Work directly with client areas to develop and implement improvements, fixes, and provide to junior analysts and developers using documented requirements and specifications. Provide guidance and aid in decision making for patching and annual upgrades, support junior members of the team in developing solutions to assigned tasks, and provide expertise to the Unified ERP program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Object-Oriented Programming, unit testing, playwright, project management, and XML highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Must be flexible to handle multiple work assignments, changing priorities, and meet deadlines; possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; good communication, presentation and project management skills.
  • Experience with SQL, Oracle Database, Oracle PeopleTools, and 3+ years experience with PeopleSoft required.
Duties/Responsibilities
Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities

This position will collaborate with resources from across UGA in support of application system development and operation as assigned. This position will be responsible for following policies, procedures, and best practices as appropriate.

Design and Development Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for executing programming solutions to meet the needs of UGA and USG clients, in such a way that the solutions meet the requirements, are on time, and meet development and documentation standards.

  1. Participate in interviews with clients to determine their needs.
  2. Develop and implement application programs based on direction from supervisor, analysts, and/or clients, using documented requirements and specifications.
  3. Perform unit testing on developed programs, documenting the results and correcting any issues discovered.
  4. Review assigned program specifications, ask questions about perceived gaps, and suggest solutions to problems.
Production Support Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for ongoing support of the systems maintained by AIS. This includes adhering to all internal and external processes and procedures to ensure that the work is done in accordance with institutional priorities and requirements.

  1. Provide day-to-day support to end users under direction of direct supervisor and AIS senior leadership.
  2. Perform regularly scheduled maintenance tasks on assigned systems and programs to provide ongoing support with minimal interrupted functionality.
  3. Maintain appropriate documentation on assigned systems and programs.
  4. Participate in the AIS response when there are issues with assigned systems, including outside of business hours if requested.
Project and Workload Management Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for managing its personal workload and keeping departmental project and workload management systems up to date, using the designated ticket and task tracking tools.

  1. Follow the documented AIS change management processes and keep related documentation up to date in the system, for auditability and future reference.
  2. Manage own time effectively when prioritizing and planning daily work, in coordination with their supervisor and AIS management.
  3. Provide timely updates to assigned tasks in tracking systems as work is performed.
  4. In coordination with supervisor, select and participate in training and professional development activities to expand skill set and prepare for future career opportunities.
