Job summary

The University of Georgia is seeking an Application Analyst Principal to work with client areas to improve applications and manage development tasks. You will guide junior staff and contribute to patches and annual upgrades within the Unified ERP program.

Required is a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience; strong SQL/Oracle/PeopleTools knowledge and OO programming experience are highly valued. This is a full-time on-site role based in Athens, GA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience.
  • Experience with object oriented programming, unit testing, playwright, project management and XML highly desired.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Oracle Database, Oracle PeopleTools and 3+ years of PeopleSoft experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with client areas to develop and implement improvements and fixes.
  • Provide guidance to junior analysts and developers using documented requirements and specifications.
  • Support patching and annual upgrades decisions and processes.

Position Summary

Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities
  • 1) Cultivate effective working relationships between IT and client community to maintain ongoing awareness of information needs and uses.
  • 2) Follow system policies and educate and support others in following system policies.
  • 3) Assist other AIS staff in meeting departmental and institutional goals, via timely feedback and ad hoc technical and “soft skills” training and mentorship.
  • 4) Follow appropriate UGA and departmental policies and procedures to ensure auditability of compliance.

Design and Development Responsibilities
  • 1) Participate in interviews with clients to determine their needs.
  • 2) Develop and implement application programs based on direction from supervisor, analysts, and/or clients, using documented requirements and specifications.
  • 3) Perform unit testing on developed programs, documenting the results and correcting any issues discovered.
  • 4) Review assigned program specifications, ask questions about perceived gaps, and suggest solutions to problems.

Production Support Responsibilities
  • 1) Provide day-to-day support to end users under direction of direct supervisor and AIS senior leadership.
  • 2) Perform regularly scheduled maintenance tasks on assigned systems and programs to provide ongoing support with minimal interrupted functionality.
  • 3) Maintain appropriate documentation on assigned systems and programs.
  • 4) Participate in the AIS response when there are issues with assigned systems, including outside of business hours if requested.

Project and Workload Management Responsibilities
  • 1) Follow the documented AIS change management processes and keep related documentation up to date in the system, for auditability and future reference.
  • 2) Manage own time effectively when prioritizing and planning daily work, in coordination with their supervisor and AIS management.
  • 3) Provide timely updates to assigned tasks in tracking systems as work is performed.
  • 4) In coordination with supervisor, select and participate in training and professional development activities to expand skill set and prepare for future career opportunities.
