Job summary
The University of Georgia is seeking a Business Analyst in Athens to lead data analytics efforts for the Bursar and Treasury Services Division. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
- Advanced SQL query skills.
- Knowledge of data analytics tools including Alteryx, Tableau, Qlik, and Power BI.
- Knowledge of programming languages including Python, PL/SQL, and Power Query/DAX.
- Knowledge of Power Platform, specifically Power Automate for workflow automation with Power Apps.
- Knowledge of Smartsheet design.
- Ability to solve complex problems systematically, adapt quickly to change, and apply sound professional judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal skills to bridge technical and functional teams.
- Strong time-management skills.
Responsibilities

- Serve as liaison between users and EITS to align solutions with needs.
- Assess vendor updates and identify downstream impacts, gaps, and optimization.
- Design and recommend process improvements and logic-driven models.
- Develop UAT plans, test cases, and integration scenarios for upgrades and reports.
- Manage project timelines and coordinate deployments across environments.
- Write and validate data queries; build dashboards and reports for decision-making.

The Business Analyst provides leadership for the Bursar and Treasury Services Division using data analytic skills to support business decisions and deployment of enterprise-level solutions to the University’s information systems. The analyst uses queries along with other analytic reporting tools to provide useful reporting metrics that will help management identify processes in need of improvement, make recommendations, and respond to outside questions. This role performs duties including gathering, documenting, and analyzing business processes and coordinating with functional, cross-functional, and technical teams to develop, test, and implement projects, APIs and data feeds related to Banner, PeopleSoft, and other Third-Party Systems such as TouchNet. The Business Analyst assists with assessing and testing upcoming system upgrade releases and patches. The Business Analyst creates project plans, coordinates and leads project meetings, ensures project documentation is up to date, and manages tasks related to projects. Additionally, the Business Analyst prepares specifications for developers, coordinates testing with functional stakeholders on campus, functionally approves migrations and upgrades in non-production and production instances, and assists with determining the training materials needed for upgrades and projects. The Business Analyst supports the development of operational reports related to existing processes and projects. In addition, the Business Analyst supports the division with special projects or processing tasks as needed.

- Oversee iterative testing and defect tracking within technical hubs; advise Directors on bug fix timelines and operational impact.
- Manage job scheduling (UC4) and assist with processing calendars, monitor technical hubs for downtime, and adjust batch schedules as needed.
- Provide formal validation, sign-off, and approval to EITS for production deployments.

- Write and execute SQL statements to validate data, troubleshoot process issues, and support enterprise data feeds.
- Design, build, and support dashboards and reporting solutions (Argos, Smartsheet, Power BI, Alteryx, etc) to support division decision-making.
- Conduct ad-hoc data analysis and custom reporting to fulfill incoming inquiries from leadership and external stakeholders.

- Manage project timelines, prioritize task assignments, and track the promotion of solutions across non-production and production environments.
- Supervise, guide, and assign tasks to team members, ensuring work adheres to quality standards and documentation templates.
- Partner with Directors and division managers to set project priorities, evaluate risks, and assess the success of deployed solutions.

- Formulate release communication plans, deployment announcement, and email updates for end-users.
- Oversee the development of training materials and train staff on new tools, processes, and required deliverables.
- Provide regular status reports, risk escalations, and strategic insights on project health to Directors.
