Job summary

Gravity IT Resources is seeking an Application Analyst II to support a fuels and system optimization portfolio in Charlotte, NC. The role blends hands-on technical work with MSP oversight, ensuring reliable application performance and business value.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Engineering/MIS or related field with minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Equivalently, High School diploma/GED plus 8 years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for multiple IT application resources ensuring value, performance, and reliability.
  • Operate to meet IT objectives: safety, reliability, cost, customer and employee satisfaction.
  • Promote standard processes to foster operational excellence.
  • Manage disruptions and provide 24/7 support for critical applications as needed.
  • Mentor and coach team members; participate in hiring and staffing decisions.
  • Oversee contingent workforce and MSP relationships; manage SLAs and contracts.
  • Maintain IT asset data (AD groups, file shares, servers, databases).
  • Ensure patching, change management, security standards, and regulatory compliance.

Job description

Application Analyst II
Location: Charlotte, NC Hybrid — 3 days onsite
Contract — 1 year

We’re looking for a customer-oriented, highly engaged, and motivated individual with strong technical skills for an IT Application Analyst role. This person will support a fuels and system optimization application portfolio, while also overseeing an MSP team for certain aspects of that portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for multiple IT application resources to ensure business value, performance, and reliability of technology solutions
  • Operate in a way that meets annual IT objectives (safety, reliability, cost management, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction)
  • Promote standard processes and procedures to build a culture of operational excellence
  • Ensure implementation of integrated processes, products, services, and measures that deliver high value, low cost solutions
  • Work with teams to manage and resolve service disruptions specific to the portfolio
  • Provide 24/7 support of escalated production issues for critical applications as needed
  • Maintain positive, effective relationships with internal business partners who rely on the team’s applications
  • Create a positive, rewarding work environment with growth and development opportunities, including regular feedback, coaching, and goal setting
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to team members
  • Create internal and external job postings, review resumes, interview, and hire resources
  • Manage contingent workforce or managed services responsibilities, including staff augmentation contracts and managed service provider statements of work
  • Maintain IT asset ownership data (AD groups, process IDs, file shares, servers, databases, etc.)
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and IT requirements, including patching and change management
  • Own and maintain standards and security exceptions as needed
  • Support application sustainability, cloud transformation, and data strategy initiatives for relevant applications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related discipline, plus a minimum of 5 years of related work experience
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: High School diploma/GED plus 8 years of related work experience

  • Proven experience managing software support and delivery
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies
  • Ability to manage resolution of complex issues spanning technology, vendor, and business concerns
  • Strong multi‑tasking, organization, and tracking skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately, with effective presentation skills
  • Proficiency with SQL and navigating complex databases
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and managing Windows servers hosted in AWS and Azure
  • Ability to read and understand Java
  • Ability to read Python or other scripting languages
  • Understanding of firewalls and network troubleshooting
