Job summary

Brown University is seeking an Application Administrator to support and configure operational computing systems for Dining Services, Residential Life, and other departments. You will partner with internal teams to enhance integration and automation with core University systems, while providing day-to-day support and guidance to staff.

The role requires participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation, with occasional after-hours work to ensure critical services remain available to students and staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with relevant IT or administration experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications and ticketing systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work with non-technical users.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the application administrator for operational computing systems.
  • Assist staff in departments who also administer computing systems.
  • Help establish roadmaps for computing systems used by customers.
  • Participate in implementing new systems and integrations.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support and triage of issues.
  • Support reporting needs and user documentation.

Job Description:Application AdministratorOffice of Information TechnologyThe Application Administrator in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) directly supports the technology needs of several divisions of Brown University, including Dining Services, Residential Life, and several additional auxiliary departments. The Application Administrator will serve as the primary employee supporting the computer systems and their day-to-day operations for the departments.The Application Administrator will:Serve as the application administrator for operational computing systems, configuring the systems to meet functional requirementsAssist staff in departments who also administer computing systemsAssist in establishing the roadmap for the computing systems that are run by our customersParticipate in the implementation of new systems being implemented for supported departmentsAssist in partnering with other internal teams to improve application integration and automation with other University Core SystemsAssist with reporting needsThe Application Administrator is responsible for administering the suite of applications used across our diverse customer base. They work in concert with departmental staff who run the operations of their units. They are responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the department, including tier 1 triage of problems. They additionally support the contract process and security questions.While supporting the applications the Application Administrator will look to evaluate existing systems, make recommendations for improvements, streamline processes and procedures, and serve as a resource to technical and non-technical users of these applications.The Application Administrator is required to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation schedule. While on-call, they must be available to answer calls/emails after normal working hours and on weekends/holidays depending on the rotation order.
