Overview
This adjunct faculty position requires teaching undergraduate and pre‑college level science courses in physics and science composition. Candidates must demonstrate teaching potential, knowledge of physics, and ability to support student success.
Responsibilities
- Teach college‑level and pre‑college science composition courses; create an optimum learning environment.
- Engage in department‑related activities: attend workshops, meetings, student learning assessment activities, and perform other departmental duties.
- Develop and deliver course material: prepare syllabus, lesson plans, and conduct classes according to Department guidelines.
- Create assignments, evaluate student work, and maintain accurate records of attendance and grades.
- Communicate effectively with students and department via the course management system, MS Office, and email.
- Support the College’s mission, vision, and core values (Service, Learning, Innovation, Collaboration, Excellence).
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to enhance instruction using technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics or related field.
- Thorough knowledge of physics principles sufficient for teaching basic to calculus‑based courses.
- Familiarity with adult learning theory and current pedagogical strategies.
- Experience designing and grading tests and preparing instructional materials.
- Proficiency with instructional and course‑management software.
- Strong communication skills for large and small groups.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.
Essential Functions
- Attend department and college workshops, training sessions, and meetings.
- Participate in student learning assessment activities.
- Develop syllabus, evaluate procedures, and schedule assignments.
- Prepare lesson plans and conduct scheduled classes.
- Meet all scheduled dates and times, applying classroom management and technology.
- Create and grade assignments; return graded work within a week.
- Maintain attendance records, grade book, and report to Records Office by deadline.
- Administer course evaluations as instructed.
- Use the college’s course management system and MS Office Suite.
- Respond to student inquiries and emails within 48 hours.
- Support the mission, vision, and core values of the college.
