The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) Applicant Investigation Unit seeks an Investigator to support recruitment, investigation, and selection of candidates for the Correction Officer position. Under supervision, the Investigator will conduct background checks, interviews, and collateral research to ensure candidate suitability.

Key duties include coordinating schedules, verifying document authenticity, and performing field checks to support a thorough vetting process.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant full-time experience in accounting, auditing, correction administration, criminal justice, or related fields.
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, or
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the first two options.

Responsabilités

• Ensure candidate background checks are sent out and received.
• Prepare reports and coordinate investigation schedules and assignments.
• Run background checks through various systems and registries.
• Contact and interview candidates; gather information through collateral contacts.
• Formulate questions based on documents; verify authenticity of submissions.
• Perform field visits and checks of social media profiles as part of vetting.
