Job summary

The Office of the Maine Attorney General seeks a full-time appellate attorney for the Child Protection Division. The candidate will draft 60–80 briefs per year and participate in live-streamed oral arguments, with strong writing and oral advocacy required.

Experience with Maine Rules of Appellate Procedure and ability to manage complex dockets and deadlines are essential. Salary is competitive and based on qualifications; state benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Must be admitted to the Maine Bar in good standing.
• Strong writing and oral advocacy skills are required.
• Experience with Maine Rules of Appellate Procedure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft 60–80 briefs per year and perform several live-streamed oral arguments.
• Handle appellate matters in the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and related venues.
• Possibly engage in district court litigation and respond to Petition for Certiorari as needed.
