New Mexico Courts is seeking a full-time, at-will Appellate Attorney Assistant (U) for the Supreme Court Law Library in Santa Fe, NM. Under the direction of a Justice or Judge, the Reference Attorney provides legal research, analyzes briefs, prepares memoranda, and offers staff support for committees and training.

Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented with strong research and writing skills, comfortable handling inquiries from judges, attorneys, and the public; background in a law library is

Qualifications

• Knowledge of United States and New Mexico constitutions, federal law, NM case law, statutes, rules, policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in legal research, writing, and analysis; ability to prepare memoranda and briefs.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests for legal information from judges, court staff, and the public.
• Assist with staff support for committees, trainings, and outreach.
• Draft memoranda, proposed dispositions, and orders; review briefs and records.
