Job summary

The New Mexico Supreme Court is recruiting for a full-time, Appellate Attorney – Associate (At-Will), for the Supreme Court in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The ideal candidate has strong analytical, writing, and editing skills with a deep understanding of Federal and New Mexico law, especially appellate procedures.

Responsibilities include advising on legal matters, drafting memoranda and proposed dispositions, and coordinating with judges, committees, and staff.

Qualifications

• The successful applicant should hold an ABA-accredited JD and NM license to practice law.
• Three years of legal practice or law clerk experience required.
• Strong analytical, writing, and editing skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and perform research for court operations.
• Draft recommendations, dispositions, and proposed opinions.
• Assist with rulemaking and staff support for committees.
• Review briefs, motions, and docketing statements.
• Prepare memoranda of law and orders for appeals.
• Stay current with developments in the law.
