Job summary

The New Mexico Supreme Court in Santa Fe is seeking a full-time Appellate Attorney – Associate (At-Will). This role focuses on developing and maintaining rules, forms, uniform jury instructions, and other procedural materials with precise, polished work and collaboration with judges and clerks.

The ideal candidate has strong legal writing, analysis, and editing skills, plus judicial clerkship experience if possible.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from ABA-accredited law school and be licensed to practice in New Mexico.
• Three years of experience in applicable law or as a law clerk.
• No substitutions allowed.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice, perform research, and make recommendations to the court.
• Assist with rulemaking authority and staff support for committees.
• Draft recommendations and proposed dispositions for assigned cases.
• Screen pro se petitions for jurisdiction and prerequisites.
• Review motions, docketing statements, briefs, and assist resolutions.
• Draft memoranda of law and proposed opinions.
