Job description

Role Description

The Technical Designer role is a full-time, on-site position based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This role focuses on translating design concepts into production-ready technical packages, including detailed specs, measurements, construction notes, and grading. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and updating tech packs, reviewing samples and fittings, recording accurate fit comments, and ensuring consistency in sizing, construction, and quality across styles and seasons. The Technical Designer will collaborate closely with design, product development, and production teams to troubleshoot construction issues, maintain standards, and support efficient, scalable manufacturing. The role also involves coordinating with overseas factories, tracking sample timelines, and supporting continuous process improvements in technical design and production workflows.

Qualifications
  • Strong technical design skills, including creating and managing tech packs, garment specs, construction details, and grading.
  • Proficiency in relevant design and production tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Excel, PLM systems, and digital pattern or spec software).
  • Solid apparel construction knowledge, fit analysis experience, and ability to translate fit comments into clear technical revisions.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as design, product development, sourcing, and production, including communication with overseas factories.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation and feedback for internal teams and manufacturing partners.
  • Prior experience as a Technical Designer or in a similar apparel product development role; experience with global manufacturing is a plus.
  • Relevant education such as a degree or certificate in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Production, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Salary: $85,000 per year, BOE
