Job summary

Role Description

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Apparel Designer to join the Style Theory design team at our New York City headquarters in a full-time capacity. In this role, you will report directly to the Design Director and work closely with design and production teams to bring seasonal collections from concept to execution.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include sketching CADs, creating detailed technical packages, anticipate needs and multitask priorities to ensure deadlines are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Collaboration & Culture: Positively impact the design team daily by being an active team player, bringing a great attitude, and fostering a collaborative, supportive work environment.
• Concept Development: Shop and interpret trend forecasts to design seasonal collections and key item styles.
• Technical Design & Flat Sketches: Create stylized CADs, technical flat sketches, and original print and graphic artwork.
• Tech Pack Creation: Build and maintain comprehensive tech packs in Excel, including complete specifications with Points of Measure and detailed garment construction notes.
• Fittings & Quality Control: Actively participate in garment fittings, make necessary adjustments, and trabslate any neccessary fit updates into the system.
• Submission Management: Oversee daily production submissions, including evaluating lab dips, strike-offs, fabrics, trims and samples.

Qualifications

• Design Experience: Proven apparel design skills, with specific experience in mass-market or private-label sectors.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience designing stylized CADs, flat sketches, and original print/graphic artwork.
• Garment Construction & Fit: Deep understanding of garment construction and spec-sheet development.
• Production Knowledge: Clear understanding of production processes and quality standards, with experience reviewing daily submissions (lab dips, strike-offs, etc.).
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and easily adapt to evolving trends.

Salary: $85,000 - $105,000 per year, BOE
