Skiva International Inc. in Midtown NYC is seeking an Assistant Technical Designer to grow technical skills across multiple lines/collections and contribute directly to the team.

The ideal candidate will sketch flats and make alterations, highlighting an elevated aesthetic and strong garment construction knowledge. Responsibilities include creating tech packs, collaborating with design, sales, production and merchandising to deliver well-fitted garments while minimizing lead time in production

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design.
• Min 1 year Technical Design Experience in Apparel Industry.
• Proficiency in Excel is required (Google sheets is a plus!).
• Proficiency in Outlook and email communication is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Knowledge of fabrication, patternmaking, and garment construction standards is required.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and update tech packs using Excel.
• Ability to create tech packs based on inspiration photos, designer sketches, previous season garments, and standard blocks.
• Ability to create, maintain, and edit grading in Excel.
• Measure and evaluate garments from proto sampling through TOP.
• Assist in fittings, applying fit comments and visual direction to vendor partners.
• Ensuring fit and quality standards are met.

Successful and long-established Midtown NYC Apparel Company has an immediate need for an Assistant Technical Designer to join our vibrant team. An ideal way to grow your technical skillset for many different lines/collections and get to know a close-knit team, while making a direct impact in the company.

**Technical designer with ability to sketch flats and make alterations to flats is a HUGE plus**

Technical Designer should have an elevated aesthetic and strong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, fabrication, fit, and proportion. Technical designer is expected to assist in all aspects of tech pack creation and collaborate with design, sales, production and merchandising to execute well fitted garments with a goal of minimizing lead time in production fitting.

Evaluate Prototype, Fit, PPS and TOP samples for measurement, fit and construction accuracy, and quality according to brand standards.Measure samples for fittings Attend fit sessions and accurately take fit notes during live fitting Thrives in a fast paced, dynamic and collaborative environment, with the ability to switch gears and juggle multiple product lines, seasons and labels depending on need
