Job summary

DICK’S Sporting Goods is seeking a Team Captain – Apparel to lead the Apparel department with product knowledge and athlete connection, coaching teammates, driving sales, and ensuring athletes feel confident in their selections.

You’ll build and lead a strong team, hire and onboard staff, manage schedules, and uphold safety, merchandising, and service standards to deliver outstanding experiences for athletes of all abilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in retail or customer-facing roles.
• Previous people leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Apparel department by delivering an engaging shopping experience rooted in product knowledge and athlete connection.
• Coach teammates, drive sales, and ensure athletes feel confident in their selections.
• Build and lead a strong, effective team including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining direct reports.
• Ensure teammates are trained and receive coaching, feedback, development, recognition, and motivation.
• Adhere to safety, loss prevention and standard operating procedures, and ensure accountability.
