Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA, is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for the Cardiothoracic Surgery team on weekends (Fri–Sun, 7am–8pm). This role offers a professional, collaborative environment with opportunities for advancement in a forward-thinking health system.

You will join a supportive team as a primary health care provider, performing histories, exams, screenings, and management of acute and chronic conditions within a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP), DEA license and RN licensure.
• AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Eligibility for prescriptive authority per state regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare providers.
• Computer literacy for EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Take health history and perform physical exams.
• Initiate screening and diagnostic procedures.
• Provide health maintenance services.
• Manage pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses and stable chronic illness.

The APPs have advanced knowledge and skills that qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient’s health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.

What We Require:

• Education: Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Experience: 0
• Licensure/Certification: Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP), DEA license and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required.
• AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Advanced Life Support certification preferred.
• Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
• Other: Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers, good written and oral communication skills.
• Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

Compensation Range: $107,993.60 - $172,785.60 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
