Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Physician Assistant for our Cardiothoracic Surgery team in Roanoke, VA. You will assist in traditional and minimally invasive procedures, with EVH experience and strong patient-care focus.

Join a premier cardiovascular program at the new Cardiovascular Institute, operating within Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, and collaborate across physicians, APPs, nurses, and staff to advance patient outcomes and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Current PA license and DEA licensure.
• AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Experience in cardiothoracic surgery or EVH preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and health care providers.
• Commitment to continued professional development.
• Malpractice insurance and credentialing requirements satisfied.

Responsibilities

• Provide first assisting in cardiothoracic surgeries.
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH).
• Collaborate with surgeons, APPs, nurses and support staff.
• Deliver exceptional patient care and contribute to teamwork.

What We Require

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
• Experience: Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/ department preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current Physician Assistants license (PA) required.
• DEA licensure required.
• AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice.
• Other: Meets credentialing requirements.
• Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinics malpractice insurance carrier.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers.
• Maintains open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients and their family members.
• Commitment to continued professional development.

Compensation Range: $118,788.80 - $190,070.40. Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
