Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for the Cardiothoracic Surgery weekends program. The role supports the team with Saturday and Sunday coverage, and Friday through Sunday shifts from 7am to 8pm, in a forward-thinking environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP) and DEA license.
• RN licensure required with BLS-HCP certification; ALS preferred.
• Eligible for prescriptive authority per state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Act as a primary health care provider within a collaborative team.
• Conduct health histories and physical exams; initiate screening and diagnostic procedures.
• Provide health maintenance services and manage acute and stable chronic illnesses; consult with physicians as needed.

  The APPs have advanced knowledge and skills that qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patients health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

Experience: 0

Licensure/Certification: Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP), DEA license and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred. Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.

Other: Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers, good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

Compensation Range:

$107,993.60 - $172,785.60

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
