Job summary

TI Communities in Palatine, IL seeks an Apartment Maintenance Technician for The Clayson community. You’ll perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances to keep residents safe and comfortable.

This role requires hands-on maintenance across trades, reliability, and a customer-first attitude. On-call rotation and basic carpentry/plumbing tasks included; HVAC certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Knock out work orders and preventive maintenance with care.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances.
• Keep common areas clean, safe, and welcoming.
• Participate in on-call rotation when community needs arise.
• Perform basic carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks as needed.
• Assist with safety assessments for residents and staff.

Maintenance Technician – Everyday Hero of the Community

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-5pm, Every 3 rd Saturday 8-5pm, 24hr on-call every three weeks

HVAC/EPA and CPO Certification Preferred

Your Impact

• Knock out work orders and preventive maintenance with care.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances.
• Keep common areas clean, safe, and welcoming.
• Participate in on-call rotation when your community needs you most.
• Basic carpentry duties – including, but not limited to, replacement and repair of interior and exterior doors, windows, deck repair, drywall repair, and painting.
• Basic electrical work – including, but not limited to, changing bulbs, ballasts, fixtures, replacing switches, outlets, bathroom ventilation fans, replacement of batteries in alarm panels, exit lights, smoke, and CO2 detectors, etc.
• Basic plumbing work – including, but not limited to, backups or leaking drains and toilets, replacement of faucets and garbage disposals, hot water tank installation, etc.
• Appliances – installation, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of major components such as motors, pumps, circuit boards, belts, filters, ignitors, etc.
• HVAC – routine maintenance and repairs, installation of thermostats, troubleshooting, and replacement of ignitors, sensor, and motors.
• Safety – assesses and considers the safety of community residents and staff in performing tasks.
