Job summary

The John Stewart Company is seeking a maintenance professional in San Francisco to perform a wide range of maintenance duties, including preventative, emergency, cosmetic, and routine tasks. The role emphasizes safe work practices, strong problem solving, and customer service, with on-call coverage and weekend shifts as scheduled.

Responsibilities include managing work orders, performing inspections, and coordinating with residents and the Property Manager.

Qualifications

• On-call capacity with reliable transportation.
• Basic mathematical and computer skills; English fluency; bilingual a plus.
• Strong time management skills are essential.
• At least 2 years’ maintenance experience in an apartment community or similar.
• REAC or other regulatory inspections knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and respond to work orders; follow up with residents and management.
• Ensure preventive maintenance scheduling and performance is up to date.
• Perform cosmetic and routine maintenance throughout the community.
• Conduct unit turnovers and prepare for new move-ins; meet deadlines.
• Carry out move-in and move-out inspections; conduct quarterly inspections with PM.
• Perform plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and masonry repairs as needed.
• Coordinate, schedule and oversee vendor work with Property Manager.
• Be on-call for off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage as scheduled.
