Job summary

SMC is seeking a Service Technician to ensure community assets meet company standards and legal requirements. The role involves diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and hands-on maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, and more.

Ideal candidates have extensive maintenance experience, strong safety awareness, and excellent communication. The position is full-time with on-call rotation and equipment responsibility at our Laurel, MD location.

Qualifications

Minimum seven years of maintenance-related experience.
Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and carry.
Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and drywall.
Strong safety awareness and ability to document work.
Excellent customer service and communication.

Responsibilities

Address, follow up and document service requests.
Maintain an inventory of adequate supplies.
Diagnose HVAC problems and perform repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC units.
Complete additional preventive maintenance inspections as scheduled.
Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled.
Make repairs to grounds and drainage; ensure documentation complies with quality standards.
Maintain tools as designated by SMC's Tool Checklist.
Address emergency maintenance as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
Contribute to community and company engagement.
