Job summary

Beacon Hill is seeking an AP/AR Specialist in Oakland, CA to join our nonprofit client’s accounting team. This role offers exposure to month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, grant accounting, and continued growth toward a Staff Accountant position.

The role emphasizes nonprofit accounting foundations while supporting a mission-driven organization serving youth and families in the East Bay.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting experience.
• Experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred.
• Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of AP, AR, general ledger, and account reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices and payment runs.
• Manage accounts receivable billing, collections, and cash application.
• Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close.
• Maintain accurate vendor, customer, and accounting records.
• Support grant, program, and fundraising-related accounting activity.
• Assist with audits and financial reporting processes.
• Research and resolve invoice, payment, and account discrepancies.
• Collaborate with accounting leadership on special projects and process improvements.
