Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Erwin, TN is seeking an AP Accounting Clerk to support the Accounts Payable function, process invoices, and help with period-end activities. You will work onsite in Erwin, TN, ensuring timely payments and accurate documentation.

The role requires an Associate's degree in accounting or related field and at least 2 years in AP, with proficiency in Excel, Word, and AP automation tools. SAP experience is a plus, and U.S. citizenship with potential DOE clearance is required.

Position Overview:

This role supports the Accounts Payable function by processing invoices, resolving discrepancies, maintaining documentation, and ensuring timely, accurate payments. It also assists with period-end close activities, audits, and various accounting projects as needed.

Your Day to Day as an AP Accounting Clerk:

• Accounts Payable duties include reviewing Invoices for appropriate documentation and approvals in accordance with payment terms, prior to payment.
• Scan invoices into A/P automation tool/Process 3-way P.O. match invoices.
• Respond to employee and vendor inquiries, research and correct discrepancies.
• Maintain files and documentation in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
• Assist in month, quarter and year-end closing.
• Assist with internal and external audit in relation to Accounts Payable audit requests.
• Assist with other accounting projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in A/P. Related experience may be considered.
• Must have a strong work ethic.
• Must be well organized and able to follow standard procedures.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, AP Automation Tools.
• Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills.
• Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.
• Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Pay: $47,000- $74,000

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $47,000 and $74,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will', unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
