Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company seeks an AOV Technician for 100% travel on short-term contracts (4–6 weeks, 40–72 hours/week). You will disassemble, calibrate, install and test valve systems, read blueprints, and perform field repairs while adhering to safety and nuclear program standards.

High school diploma and tech training required, with 3 years of AOV experience. Candidates must be willing to travel, work overtime, and pass pre-employment screenings.

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in AOV/actuator valve calibration and maintenance.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and technical documentation.
  • U.S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent training in reactor maintenance or operations.
  • Satisfactory performance rating from prior work based on client feedback.
  • Completion of pre-employment and screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble mechanical control devices, valves and related systems.
  • Calibrate regulators, meters, and gauges for accuracy across parameters.
  • Install, inspect and test meters, relays and power sources to verify function.
  • Perform leak testing, valve adjustments and alignment checks.
  • Support field troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
  • Document tasks and daily field activity logs accurately.
  • Follow safety guidelines and nuclear program norms, PPE usage.
  • Overtime, shifts, weekends and holidays as required.

Opportunity Overview

AOV Technician

100% Travel

Contract, short-term, 4 to 6 weeks, ranging 40-72 hours per week

We may offer contractors more than one short-term assignment.

Your Day-to-Day
  • Report to the On-Site Manager.
  • Disassemble mechanical control devices, valves, and related systems using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Calibrate instrumentation such as regulators, meters, and gauges for accuracy in pressure, flow, temperature, and level.
  • Install, inspect, and test electric meters, relays, and power sources to detect malfunctions and verify accuracy.
  • Perform leak testing, valve adjustments, and alignment checks using appropriate gauges and tools.
  • Support field troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Complete work orders with accurate documentation of tasks and daily field activity logs.
  • Ensure safety of self and team and prevent damage to plant equipment.
  • Follow Quality standards and procedural guidelines set by the customer.
  • Comply with work hour requirements and observe Quality, Radiological, Human Performance, and other nuclear program norms.
  • Use appropriate PPE, including respirators, fall protection, safety glasses, and hard hats.
  • Follow lockout/tag out requirements.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Who You Are
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational, technical training or EPRI qualifications.
  • Three (3) years of experience in AOV/actuator valve calibration and maintenance.
  • Mechanical and electrical experience; ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • U.S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent training in reactor maintenance or operations.
  • Satisfactory performance rating from previous work (based on client and contractor feedback).
  • Proficiency in using basic hand tools, electrical instruments, diagnostic tools, and conducting maintenance following OSHA or client requirements for electrical and mechanical safety.
  • Complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements, which may include practical and written skills assessments, computer-based training, medical, psychological, background, and substance abuse screenings.

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $45.00/hour to $55.00/hour.
