Job summary

WECTEC Staffing Services is seeking an experienced Senior Tester for a 4–6 week contract, traveling 100% to client sites. You will perform functional testing and maintenance on Air-Operated Valves (AOVs), troubleshoot issues, and document activities. Strong reading of blueprints and nuclear safety experience required.

The role involves high physical demand, climbing, lifting, confined spaces, and shifts including weekends/holidays. Compensation ranges from $60–$70 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of hands-on diagnostic testing and AOV/actuator valve maintenance.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and technical documentation.
  • U.S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent reactor maintenance/operations training.
  • Satisfactory performance rating from prior client/contractor work.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the On-Site Manager and perform functional and diagnostic testing.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Air-Operated Valves (AOVs).
  • Ensure performance meets design/vendor specs including seating, stroke, and position control.
  • Perform leak testing, valve adjustments, and alignment checks with gauges/tools.
  • Support field troubleshooting, emergency repairs and improvement plans.
  • Complete work orders with accurate daily field activity logs.
  • Follow safety, quality, radiological and nuclear program norms.
  • Work overtime, weekends and holidays as required.

Opportunity Overview

AOV Senior Tester

100% Travel

Contract, short-term, 4 to 6 weeks, ranging 40-72 hours per week

Contractors may be offered more than one short-term assignment

Your Day-to-Day
  • Report to the On-Site Manager.
  • Perform functional and post-maintenance diagnostic testing, corrective and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Air-Operated Valves (AOVs).
  • Ensure AOV performance meets prescribed design and vendor specifications, including seating force, stroke length, and position control.
  • Perform leak testing, valve adjustments, and alignment checks using appropriate gauges and tools.
  • Support field troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Complete work orders with accurate documentation of tasks and daily field activity logs.
  • Ensure safety of self and team and prevent damage to plant equipment.
  • Follow Quality standards and procedural guidelines set by the customer.
  • Comply with work hour requirements and observe Quality, Radiological, Human Performance, and other nuclear program norms.
  • Use appropriate PPE, including respirators, fall protection, safety glasses, and hard hats.
  • Follow lockout/tag out requirements.
  • Perform tasks in confined spaces, high-temperature areas, and elevated heights.
  • Physical demands include tasks such as climbing, lifting (up to 100 lbs.), prolonged standing, bending, visual acuity, balance, manual dexterity, and hearing.
  • Maintain focus for extended periods and read/write complex documents in English.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Who You Are
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational, technical training or EPRI qualifications.
  • Five (5) years of hands‑on experience in diagnostic testing and AOV/actuator valve maintenance.
  • Mechanical and electrical experience; ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • U.S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent training in reactor maintenance or operations.
  • Satisfactory performance rating from previous work (based on client and contractor feedback).
  • Proficiency in using basic hand tools, electrical instruments, diagnostic tools, and conducting maintenance following OSHA or client requirements for electrical and mechanical safety.
  • Complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements, which may include practical and written skills assessments, computer-based training, medical, psychological, background, and substance abuse screenings.
