A growing 100% cloud-based tax advisory firm providing tax planning, tax prep and accounting services for healthcare professionals and affluent U.S. business owners is seeking a Remote Accounting Supervisor to join their team.

This role exists to ensure timely, accurate, and strategic delivery of accounting services for high-net-worth clients and professional service businesses. The Accounting Supervisor plays a key role in supervising accounting operations, maintaining financial integrity, and supporting the overall efficiency of the accounting department. This role contributes directly to client satisfaction, internal process excellence, and the firm’s ability to scale with quality. Without this position, our accounting function would lack consistency, strategic oversight, and the bandwidth to handle increasingly complex financial needs.

Responsibilities
Accounting Compliance & Oversight
- Maintain and review client financial records to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Supervise the day-to-day work of junior accountants and bookkeepers, providing mentorship and quality control.
- Execute and review accounting tasks including payroll processing, A/P, depreciation schedules, and reconciliations.
- Handle payroll tax filings, and support setup and processing across platforms like Gusto.
- Set up and maintain QBO bank feeds and retrieve view-only access to client financial accounts when needed.
- Lead clean-up projects to correct and optimize financial records, and ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory standards.
- Support IRS and state notice resolution efforts, collaborating with clients and government agencies to resolve issues promptly.
- Assist with correspondence involving S Corporation health insurance, Augusta Rule documentation, and reasonable compensation considerations.
- Provide detailed financial reporting and insights that support client advisory and planning decisions.
Client Service & Communication
- Serve as a trusted advisor for clients in the healthcare and personal services industries.
- Communicate via secure messaging, video calls, and phone to address accounting, payroll, and compliance issues.
- Maintain professional relationships through proactive updates and clear documentation.
- Translate financial data into meaningful insights, contributing to broader tax strategy and business objectives.
- Manage sensitive financial information with discretion and professionalism.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Identify opportunities to improve systems and workflows within the accounting function.
- Leverage technology (e.g., QBO, Gusto, Google Sheets) to streamline operations and increase transparency.
- Contribute to firm-wide process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- Support EOS-related initiatives, such as assisting in departmental Rocks or contributing to the firm’s Scorecard metrics as assigned.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in public accounting and at least 1 year of supervisory or review experience.
- BA/BS in Accounting or a related field required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting; familiarity with FASB, payroll, depreciation, sales tax, and internal controls.
- Experience with payroll processing and payroll tax filings, including setup and maintenance in platforms like Gusto.
- Demonstrated ability to lead bookkeeping clean-ups, resolve accounting discrepancies, and improve workflows.
- Familiarity with S Corp health insurance treatment, reasonable compensation, and the Augusta Rule.
- Prior experience in tax preparation and resolving IRS/state tax notices is highly valued.
- Skilled in QBO bank feed setup and retrieval of view-only banking/credit card data.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a deadline-driven environment.
- Must have a take-charge, solutions-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering excellence.
- Exposure to or experience with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) is a plus.
- Reliable high-speed internet and remote-ready workspace required.
