Position Overview/Duties
- Supervise and lead a team of 10 senior power plant controllers stationed at the Table Rock Control Center.
- Manage and coordinate generation activities across seven hydroelectric power plants, comprising 27 generators with a total capacity of 1,042,000 kW.
- Plan, direct, and oversee daily operations of a complex, multi-purpose power system from a centralized control center.
- Coordinate scheduled and emergency outages to ensure reliability and efficiency of power generation and system operations.
- Oversee compliance with NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) testing and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of hydroelectric power plants, high-voltage switchyards, and large concrete and earth-fill dams with controlled spillways.
- Monitor and manage the operational performance of facilities operating 24/7, including coordination with electricians, mechanics, and administrative staff.
- Support multipurpose project missions including flood damage reduction, hydropower generation, navigation, recreation, water supply, and water quality.
- Collaborate with the Power Marketing Administration to ensure timely and accurate delivery of electric power to utilities.
- Evaluate and improve operational strategies to maximize reliability, safety, and performance of critical infrastructure.
- Respond to emergencies and unforeseen events impacting power generation, dam safety, or flood control operations.
- Contribute to strategic planning and long-term operational goals for regional energy and water resource management.
Other Conditions and Requirements
- Interested candidates should provide their resume in TARP, and be prepared to provide current SF-50 and first and second level supervisor endorsement upon request.
- Current qualified permanent USACE employees will be considered for details at the same grade (up to 6 months) or reassignment pending Hiring Freeze ETP approval.
- Current eligible permanent USACE employees will be considered for temporary promotions not to exceed 120 days pending Hiring Freeze ETP approval.

This opportunity is being announced through the USACE Voluntary Internal Opportunities Program (VIOP). Minimum Education Requirement: Successfully completed a four-year training program in hydropower.
Minimum Experience Requirement: Candidates should have at least two years of experience working in a centralized control center. While supervisory experience is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement.

- The incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Financial Disclosure Report upon entering on duty in this position and annually thereafter.
- This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Hiring incentives such as a recruitment/relocation bonus, service credit for leave, and student loan repayment may be authorized (subject to available budget).
- Relocation (PCS) expenses may be authorized (subject to available budget) if the selecting official determines the relocation is the best interests of the government.
- This position is eligible for situational telework.
